Hoda El Khatib

 

Hoda El Khatib Chalak (Lebanon) is a former Attorney at Law and former Instructor of Law at Saint Joseph University, Lebanon, where she taught Human Rights and Citizenship, Criminology, and Administrative Law.

 

Ms. El Khatib Chalak is the President of the Organization for Civil Activities. She is a Founding Member for the Think Tank for Lebanon.

 

 She is Founding Member of the Think Tank for Akkar and North- Lebanon.

 

 She is co-founder and coordinator for the Forum of Arab Civil Society Strategies.

 

 She also co-founded the Kawakibi Center for Democracy Transition and the National Committee for Environmental Activities – Lebanon, and she was a member of the executive board of the Arab Institute for Human Rights – Beirut office.

 

 Ms. El Khatib Chalak was a member of the North Lebanon Order of lawyers where she was member of the Committee of Human Rights and the Committee of Arab and International Relations.

 

 Ms. El Khatib Chalak was Vice President of the Lebanese Organization for Human Rights from 1998 to 2001. She is also a member of the Arab Organization for Human Rights and member and legal advisor for the Association of Social Solidarity, Lebanon. She is member of the International Steering Committee for the Council for a Community of Democracies.

 

 

Ms. El Khatib Chalak research interests include Human Rights, Citizenship, Democracy, Transitional justice, Civil Society, Human and Sustainable Development, Comparative Law, and Civil Law.   

 

She has participated in several regional and international conferences concerned primarily with these topics and appears in the media in these domains.

 

Ms. El Khatib Chalak has as selected compositions and books: she is co -author of “Best Practices Manual on Democracy Education”, and she is co –author of the Curriculum “The Arab Civil Society”. She is author of “The Responsibility of the Board of Directors in Public Limited Companies.” She is co –author of “The Civil Society in Lebanon.

 

Ms. El Khatib Chalak holds a Masters degree in Law from Saint Joseph University, Lebanon, where she also did her undergraduate education.
